Welcome to the 2011-12 school year at Brier Creek Elementary School.  My name is Kelly Matson, President of the Brier Creek elementary PTA.  This year we will be focusing on continued commitment to enhancing your child’s academic experience though science and technology, arts and culture, health and wellness all while fostering a strong sense of community.

In collaboration with Dr. Chambers, Brier Creek Elementary School's principal, your PTA Board has developed four key priorities that we will focus on in 2011-12 school year: 

·         Sponsoring a health & wellness initiative 

·          Upgrading the technology your children use every day

·          Embarking on an anti-bullying campaign 

·         Investing in a foreign language elective.  

These initiatives are already well under way. Thirty new laptop computers have been fully funded and are being used in the school's technology lab.  We have had one full week of offering a Spanish elective and an after school club will begin on September 8, 2011.  A Health & Wellness Week has been scheduled for the week of November 14 where your children will take place in a variety of activities including a walk-a-thon.  

But we will only be able to accomplish these initiatives with your support.  Please join the PTA and help us build the Brier Creek school community.  Also, please sign up to volunteer throughout the year.  There are sign up forms here on the website in the Membership tab.  And remember, 100% of the proceeds raised by the PTA fundraisers will be invested into enriching the school.  

Participating in the PTA is a rewarding experience for the parents, teachers and children – and results in a better BCES community for all!
