Fundraising
The BCES PTA plans to sponsor SEVEN main fundraisers this year. We need your help as we continue to support the teachers, administration, and staff to build a solid academic and safe environment for our students.
Why do we conduct so many fundraisers?
Our approach is to offer BCES families many different ways to support the school. Some families have a wide network of relatives and associates to whom they can offer products like the Citipass books, others like to purchase the items we offer, and some families would rather just participate in the Annual Membership & Giving Drive.
How much money do we want to raise this year?
Our goal is to raise over $100,000. Although we need to carry over funds to start the next new school year, the intention is to spend most of the money in the same year it is raised.
What are the top funding initiatives?
- Funding over $20K for teacher programs, grants and training
- Providing over $20K in school programs, cultural arts and resources
- Equipping all of the classrooms with SMART Boards by the end of the 2010-2011 school year - 10 boards at nearly $4K each
- Funding over $22K for grade-level books for all classrooms
2010-2011 Top Fundraisers
Our goal is to raise over $100,000 through our fundraisers and have a lot of fun supporting our school!
- Annual Membership and Giving Drive (July 1 - August 31)
- Citipass Coupon Books (begins September 3)
- Student Walk-A-Thon (October 21 for tracks 2 & 3, October 26 for tracks 1 & 4)
- Holiday Jamboree (December 4)
- Scholastic Book Fair (March 2 - March 11)
- Pig Pickin’ and Silent Auction (May 20)
- Spring Carnival (May 21)
Passive Fundraisers
Additionally, we conduct a number of PASSIVE fundraising opportunities. These include "Family Nights Out" at local restaurants/merchants, and others:
- Rapid Refill will reimburse the school for recycling used printer cartridges. Please don’t throw your used ink cartridges away! Bring them to the collection box to the left of the main office. If you can collect them from your office or workplace, that’s even better!
- BoxTops For Education is a simple, yet great way to earn money for the school. Yes, it really is worth it to clip those Boxtops! Last year, our PTA received over $700 from the Boxtops for Education program. Look for them on General Mills, Betty Crocker, Ziploc and other products. We will be sending out more information soon about an upcoming drive for Boxtops, so start clipping today!
- Harris Teeter has a Together in Education program to help raise funds for schools. It’s easy and FREE! All you have to do is link your VIC card with our school number, 6155, once each school year. When your card is linked, BCES will receive a percentage of your Harris Teeter brand purchases. But your card must be "relinked" each year (in August) in order for the school to get credit. Link your card online or in the store.
- Food Lion has a Connecting with Schools program to help raise funds for schools. It’s FREE and all you have to do is link your MVP card.
- Target will give the school “up to 1%” of all purchases made at Target with their Visa card or their issued debit card. Go to Target.com for more information. Our school code is 123670.
